What I've Done
I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Finance from Bentley University, where I graduated magna cum laude in just over three years. At 21, I joined Merrill Lynch—the world’s largest investment management and brokerage firm—as one of the company’s youngest employees (I've always wanted to confirm that claim in writing with Merrill's HR department). During my time at Merrill, I helped build a wealth management team that managed over $150M in private client assets.
Outside of work, I was involved in various philanthropic initiatives and charitable causes. After watching a TEDx talk about a fundraising platform that would help groups of friends raise enough money to build a schoolhouse for children in need, I immediately sent off a cold email to the speaker. After exchanging a few emails, I went on to become one of the startup's (Change Heroes) first beta users and successfully raised $10,000 to fund the construction of a schoolhouse in Africa (thanks to the help and support of my generous friends). The next thing I knew, I was in the Narok County of Kenya meeting the children who would be attending the newly built school. While there, I was featured in a mini-documentary about the charity's work and the school's impact which can be viewed here.
In the summer of 2013, I ended up leaving my job in finance to follow my newfound passion for startups and joined Change Heroes full time. I spent a year and a half helping build the platform, cultivate the community, and manage the donor base. In 2015, I was given the opportunity to return to Boston to lead Marketing and Community for another early stage startup (Mapkin) that was building a new type of GPS app for the iPhone. At Mapkin, I helped launch and market the app, build and support the community, and develop and manage the data acquisition strategy. Mapkin was featured on the front page of the App Store, recognized by Apple as a Best New App, and acquired by Verizon (via MapQuest) in the spring of 2016.
Post-acquisition, I've spent my time helping startups and investment funds. I ran an informal internship program for Niv Dror at Shrug Capital and helped Jason Jacobs (founder and former CEO of Runkeeper which was acquired by ASICS for $85M) launch his next project 'My Climate Journey' (a podcast focused on climate change). Most recently, I’ve joined First Round Capital where I work alongside founding partner Josh Kopelman helping evaluate new deals and invest in exceptional founders.
